Just as hope and fear are two sides of the same coin to be avoided, so too are tragedy and providence. Each one involves a judgment, each one requires me to see it in a light which obstructs its true nature. Today I will shun both. I will work to provide fortune no opportunity to mislead me away from the path of my philosophy.
